Spring Hair Trends for 2016

Spring is a great time to refresh and reenergize your look, and there’s no better place to do it than Sorelle! Every year, new spring hairstyles give us a glimpse of what we’ll be seeing for summer, fall and winter. As low-maintenance looks and brighter colors become more popular, we’ve found a variety of different ways to help our clients maintain their look at home and in the salon! Are you ready for a change? Check out the most popular spring hairstyles of 2016, as told by our expert stylist, Margie.

Balayage

Balayage became a popular trend in early 2015, although it has been widely practiced in the UK for many years. We absolutely love balayage because it allows you to achieve that beach-ready look without spending hours in the sbalayage chicagoun. It’s also the prefect spring hairstyle because it allows you to gradually work towards your summer look without making a drastic change.

Balayage is a form of painting highlights into the hair, freehand so that the highlights follow the way that the hair moves. Balayage is a skilled technique, and the result is beautiful, natural highlights with less-noticeable regrowth.

Face-Framing Highlights

Similar to balayage, face-framing highlights are a way to lighten up your hair without committing to an all over color. It’s a low-maintenance style that not only provides you with a warm, healthy glow, but also takes dull hair and makes it more lively.

Face-framing highlights use foils to create a customized placement of color or lightener. This means that you can target specific areas of hair to accentuate your face shape! It’s a great way to introduce color into your hair without making a larger commitment.

Bedroom Waves

bedroom wavesIn 2016, lots of our clients are asking for easier ways to temporarily change up their look. Looking for beautiful hair with very little effort? Then you’ll love how quickly you can create relaxed, sultry bedroom waves.

To create the perfect bedroom waves, hop in the shower before bed, and shampoo and condition your hair. Then, apply a product like Moroccan Oil Curl Defining Cream, scrunch your hair, and go to bed! When you wake up, you’ll have voluminous waves without the frizz!

Sexy Bedhead

Sexy bedhead is the definition of low-maintenance. If you’re running late for work, don’t feel like showering or simply want to try something new, sexy bedhead is a great option. Just because your hair is a little dirty doesn’t mean that it can’t be beautiful!

When you wake up in the morning with unkempt, unwashed hair, grab your dry shampoo and plug in your curling iron. Apply the dry shampoo to your roots, using your fingers to ensure that it has been applied to the roots of your hair. Then, take your curling iron and curl the ends of your hair in various directions. The curls don’t have to be uniform or large, they just have to liven up those lifeless ends!

Messy Bun

Although it may seem like there’s no technique to making a messy bun, it can actually take a lot of planning to create the perfect look.

First, you’ll need to decide where you need to create balance. Depending on the shape of your head, you may look better with a low bun, rather than the top bun. Evaluate not only what looks right, but what feels right when you’re wearing it.

Then, twist your hair tightly, until it begins to curl in on itself. Wrap it in a spiral pattern, and bind it tightly with a hair tie. You’ll find that different pieces of hair begin to fall as the bind loosens.
